According to the Parkinson’s Foundation, about one million Americans live with Parkinson's disease and approximately 60,000 Americans are diagnosed each year. Most people who get diagnosed, know little or nothing about this progressive disorder and living with PD can be very challenging. To help the local public cope with Parkinson’s, Waltonwood Cotswold (5215 Randolph Rd, Charlotte, NC 28211), a premier senior living community, is announcing a launch of its new monthly support group that will be held the third Wednesday of every month, starting June 20. The meetings are open to the public and followed by complimentary lunch. For the first group Waltonwood Cotswold partnered up with the Parkinson Association of the Carolinas and The Weston Healthcare Group. People interested in attending the group can RSVP by calling 704-496-9310.The senior living community is proud to become the resource for the local community, and they strongly encourage everyone affected by Parkinson’s to reach out to them. Support groups help people realize they are not alone, and sharing stories or obtaining advice from others is a critical piece in dealing with this disease.
